SAVANNAH – Robert Lee Cubbedge, 81, died at his residence on Wilmington Island on Saturday, December 13, 2008, under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Savannah on August 22, 1927, he was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Cubbedge, his parents, A. T. and Mildred Cubbedge, and his sisters, Dorothy Cubbedge and Evelyn Tabor.
He attended public schools in Savannah and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the Woodland Division of Union Camp Corp. after 39 years of service. Bob lived on Turner's Creek and was an avid fisherman and loved boating.
He is survived by a brother-in-law, Russell Tabor, of Dearborn, Michigan and several nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. The visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
